Tall Order

Plates of symbolically meaningful objects of flora and fauna; mango, coconut, pear, birds, bells and flowers convey a domestic narrative about my mother. Metaphorically, her plate is ‘full’ to reflect on her domestic activities such as cooking, cleaning, decorating, gardening, and family relationships. A repetition of stacked plates represents her continuous toil through generations. A negatively cast corner of a table supports the plates. The unit represents a snippet and memory of her past life. This is meant to be an installation piece with 4 repeated columns set in a rectangle the size of a table, the 4 point locations which alludes to ‘home’.
